The Last Post?

Posted by The ShadowPlastic Label on Nov 12 2009 | General

Not quite. We’re moving to the future with an eye on the past. If you want to stay up with SPL, and we know you do, check us out on tumblr at shadowplastic.tumblr.com . We appreciate you patronage and patience as we get ready for another decade and beyond.

This is not a goodbye, we’re just saying hello again. We’ve been working closely with School House LLC on building their brand into a collegiate apparel powerhouse. We also have a slew of freshness in the works for 2010. 2009 was fine, now lets do it again in 2010.

Hopefully, we’ll catch you on the flipside.

Always yours,

Who is The Real McKoy?

Posted by The ShadowPlastic Label on Sep 11 2009 | Art, General

The Real McKoy is an amazing Brooklyn based Graphic Artist, Illustrator, Screen-printer, Ideasman and Super Spy. He recently did an incredible mural installation at ACE Hotel’s New York location and orchestrated the decoration of 5 rooms there with artists such as Jasper Wong and Jim Mahfood. He is truly an incredible insominiac and we at ShadowPlastic are overflowing with girlish glee that we managed to entice him to join our squad. What does this mean for SPL?

More expanding!

When you start getting too big for your britches, you get bigger britches. That’s exactly what we’re doing. Pardon our appearance as we restructure our lab and website. We’ll occasionally update the blog with cool things, but with less frequency until the restructuring is done. We apologize to our viewers but trust us, it’s for the sake of progress.

In the mean time, check out The Real McKoy’s ACE Hotel piece below and more of his work at www.therealmcKoy.com.

Chase Tafoya Fine Art

Posted by The ShadowPlastic Label on Jul 31 2009 | Art

Few words can be used to describe the immense talent and awe inspiring vision that come when looking at Chase Tafoya’s work. I surmise that the best possible way for the world to describe his art is “WOW!”

Drawing inspiration both from within and from environmental stimuli, Chase creates portraits that depict stories rather than just capture moments that carry with them an ethereal communication between him and his subjects that continues well after a piece is done. He also spreads conscious thought and community awareness as co-founder of P.M.A. (Positive Movement Alliance).

You can currently check out his latest works gracing skate decks in Full Deck: A Short History of Skate Art at Bedford Gallery (1601 Civic Dr. Walnut Creek, CA 94596) until September 11th. Also, be on the lookout for his future collaboration with DSTROYR, Famous, and The Soul Assassins.
