Posted by The ShadowPlastic Label on Apr 21 2009 | Events

Here are a selection of pics from Aprill 11th’s exhibition at Enve. We had an excellent turnout for the opening and a good time was had by all. Much tanks to Gina at Enve, Elisa Mogavero for being an amazing curator and Nikka Dimroci for flying all the way out from Italy to help us make the first of many pop-up shows POP! Her work will be on display until May 11th at Enve so get over there while the getting is good.

Peace.

EVENT: (4/25-5/22) Art Walk @ Hello Living, BK

Posted by KAGE on Apr 19 2009 | Events, Upcoming Events

If you are not in the Prospect Heights area of Brooklyn this weekend you better try your best to be. Not only is this amazing event going on, but yours truly (Jason M. aka KAGE) will be having my very own solo show, debuting my latest series of work “Wherever It Comes From. . .” as part of it. That’s right, they gave me gallery space to put up some of my work.

Art, jazz, open bar, ping pong and prizes? What were they thinking?

*** For Immediate Release ***

On Saturday, April 25th, the art world will intersect with the real estate world for a little joie de vivre. If Cannes and Art Basel had a Brooklyn outpost it would be the site of the very first Art Walk @ Hello Living (4.25.09 – 5.22.09). 24 artists and 10 filmmakers will showcase their curated works and short films along the luxe walls of Hello Living Condominiums and within The Theater Room respectively. The art walk will be the neighborhood’s first event of this caliber — a tour de force for Brooklynites within the art, design and business worlds.

For more information, please visit www.beastsocial.wordpress.com

If walking around in some luxury condos while looking at beautiful arts and socializing with smart people doesn’t spark your interest, how about 4 hours of FREE dessert and wine tasting? Our friends at Brooklyn Oenology and Cafe Patisserie Lafayette offered some of their best selections to treat your appetite. What? You are trying to stay away from alcohol and sugar? Not a problem! We’ve got tons of fresh fruit baskets and SuNo Water lying around to keep you healthy and refreshed.

At this point, I don’t see why you are still not clicking the “I’m in” button? Maybe A RAFFLE will get you out of bed? How about some FABULOUS PRIZES?

- A gift card to Picholine ($50 value)
- A Social Club Wine Basket by Brooklyn Oenology ($75 value)
- A gift certificate to Enve Beauty Lounge ($100 value)
- A gift card AND a satchel full of goodies from Sephora ($125 value)
- A home accessory gift set by BoConcept ($150 value)

(Home buyers who are already pre-approved for a mortgage, the developers of Hello Living are offering $1000 off closing cost to those who make an offer on the same day.)

Pretty sweet Art Walk, don’t you think? It’s not over yet. Rumor has it that there is going to be an AFTER PARTY hosted by Triumph Property Group @ 957 Pacific Street with OPEN BAR and LIVE JAZZ. So I would get there early and get on the list!

Last but not least, there is going to be a PING PONG TOURNAMENT held at the after party (ever heard of that?) The winners, of course, get A PRIZE! (I’ve already said too much, let’s keep this one a secret.)

Guest and media check in @ 802 Dean Street 2PM – 5PM
Raffle drawing starts at 6PM.
After Party 6:30PM – 10PM (21+, please bring a photo ID!)

Flyer and more info after the leap.

PICS: High Heels Party Vol. 1

Posted by The ShadowPlastic Label on Mar 16 2009 | Events

Over the weekend we pulled off a very sexy party: The High Heels Party Vol. 1, in conjunction with Ouchi Gallery. There was poetry, art, wine and oh yes, HIGH HEELS. Kage even got to wear his nifty little vest (he thinks he’s the black Justin Timberlake but he’s SO not). Afterwards we went to the afterparty at Union Hall in Park Slope, Brooklyn had a couple pints and then strolled over to 4th Avenue Pub where Kevin blessed us with an amazing selection of foreign beers on tap.
It’s like Kage always says, ‘We put the “SPL” in “SPLarty!”‘ Click HERE for some pics. Once Drew Kidd gets back to us, we’ll have even more sexy pics to show you of the heels that were at the party.

EVENT: 3/14/09 – High Heels Party Vol. 1, at Ouchi Gallery in Brooklyn

Posted by KAGE on Mar 02 2009 | Events, Upcoming Events

High heels, while maybe not the most comfortable of footwear, are undeniably the sexiest thing a woman can put on her body. They accentuate the leg while emphasizing femininity and remind us why the gods made woman. Some cherish them, others fetishize them. Either way, nothing can stop traffic like a girl in high heels.

So why not celebrate them?

On March 14th at Ouchi Gallery in Downtown BK/DUMBO there is going to be a party/exhibition beyond expectation, applauding high heels and the women that go through so much pain to look oh so seductive. There will be three artists on display, a special limited edition SPL x Ouchi Gallery T-shirt for the ladies, live music and a special guest poet. And, all ladies must come dressed in their best heels, MANDATORY!
Ladies and gentlemen, trust me, this is a party you do not want to miss.

High Heels Party Vol.1
Ouchi Gallery: 170 Tillary street, Brooklyn, NY (MAP)
March 14th (Saturday),  7 p.m. until. . .
NO COVER
Ladies must wear High Heels to enter.

PICS: Violent Sex & Fracus From GEEKS 2/21/09

Posted by The ShadowPlastic Label on Feb 24 2009 | Events

Coco66 probably had one hell of a cleaning bill after SPL showed up. It was an amazing affair of whiskey, beer, punk rock and fear (Tetsuo from Fracus fell off the stage, TWICE!). The Septacons and DJBorne held down the dance music for those not willing to jump into the fray and get their heels stepped on. And Alex The Magician had everybody going nuts over his witchcraft. All in all it was a good night but then again what do you expect? It’s an SPL party.
We’ve got another one planned for March so be on the lookout and watch the twitter feed to the right constantly for updates (and clues).

PICS: 02/08/09 – SPL Invades NY ComicCon

Posted by KAGE on Feb 11 2009 | Pics

On 02/06/09 nerds, geeks, dorks and freaks from all walks of life convened at Jacob Javits Center for a weekend of straight dweebishness; ourselves included. SPL showed up on the last day of the Comicon to check out the aftermath. Unfortunately, it was kid’s day so there weren’t that many scantily clad women about dressed as anime vixens, super-heroine harlots, or dragonslaying jezzebelles, but there we’re still plenty of fanboys with their fan-families in attendance and everyone was in high spirits in spite of the heavy aroma of acne cream.
We even met up with our pal Jim Mahfood and chatted with the Nerdcore dudes and the Mammal Magazine heads. I’m not that into comics anymore, but I had a blast just kicking it and reminiscing of the good old days when I would rather play Chrono Trigger on SNES than even look at a girl. Oh how the times have changed.

The highlight of everything (for me) was seeing all the video games coming out later this year such as “The Ghostbusters” game, “TMNT“, “Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2” and my personal favorite “Tenchu Shadow Assassin“. Seems like 2009 is going to be the year for gamers, especially since no one can afford to go outside any more.

Check out some pics HERE:

Props to Chris and the rest of the heads at TenBills for hooking us up and being real down dudes. We’ll most definitely VOLTRON on that collaboration.

Excelsior!!!

PICS: 02/07/09 – FOOD ONE Art Show at YUME Gallery

Posted by The ShadowPlastic Label on Feb 11 2009 | Pics

The FOOD ONE art show was out of the park. Mad heads and fans came out to show their love and mingle with the main man after Saturday night’s festivities at The New York Comic Con. The cats from Nerdcore rolled out and represented too. All in all it was a good day. P.S. Jeff, I didn’t forget about that loot I owe you for the pizza.

View the pics HERE.
