EVENT: Jim Mahfood aka FOOD ONE Art Show NYC DOUBLE HEADER Presented by The ShadowPlastic Label and The Brooklyn Tee Party

Posted by KAGE on Feb 03 2009 | Upcoming Events

SPL is teaming up with the amazing talent of it’s favorite artist Jim Mahfood, known as FOOD ONE to all the fanboys out there, and putting on one hell of a set of shows for you. It starts off on Friday, Feb 6th, where Jim will be representing at the New York Comic Convention promoting his new book Carl the Cat That Makes Peanut Butter Sandwiches. Then on Saturday Feb 7th, come by The YUME Gallery in Brooklyn for a little meet and greet art show with Mr. FOOD ONE and see some of his latest artwork on the walls, up close and personal.

But that’s not all folks. What makes this an extra special event is that this will be the last Brooklyn Tee Party at The YUME Gallery. The SPL recently joined forces with Enve Salon and has found a new home for it’s  showcase in the L.E.S. (Lower East Side) in Manhattan. So if you miss the BK FOOD ONE show, you can catch it in The City from mid February until March 15th (dates pending). And we’re going to have a blowout closing party so stay tuned.

“Know By Heart” by Julie Hill and Ryan Young

Julie Hill works mainly in pen and ink.  She likes drawing details and romance, which often translates as girls, birds and the occasional bunch of flowers. She lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, works as an interactive designer, and spends a lot of her free time torn between her conflicting hobbies of dancing and knitting.  She is an active member in the creative collective Projectmill, and her artwork has shown in Los Angeles, London, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Ann Arbor.

Ryan P. Young is originally from the exotic land of Cincinnati Ohio. He remains in the mid west walking the sidewalks of Chicagoland while studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where he is attempting to merge contemporary design in furniture with traditional methods and materials.  When taking a break from his thesis you can find him dabbling in creating rock posters, t-shirt designs, album art or feeding his craving for eclectic music anyway that presents itself.

Featuring limited edition tea-dyed Julie Hill & Ryan Young  X The ShadowPlastic Label tees.
